Welcome to First Step
Most of us are affected to some degree by family members or friends who have some form of disability. First Step is here to help improve the quality of life in the community by helping those with developmental disabilities become more independent. Established in 1958, First Step is a place where children and adults with developmental disabilities receive educational and therapeutic service in a community setting.
Developmental Delays range from minor setbacks to severe problems. Our role is to help each person develop the skills and behavior necessary to take the critical first step toward a more fulfilling life style.
“We are committed to helping ordinary families faced with extraordinary circumstances get the help they need.”
- Pam Bland, Executive Director, First Step. Inc.

The 2012 Walk for Children will officially kick off on May 1st and last until Sept. 6th. If you are interested in forming a team, please contact 501-620-6616 today! Teams of between 5 and 12 people make up a walk team, and set a goal to walk 100 miles in 4 months, while collecting pledges for each mile walked or by having team fund-raisers to reach the team goal of $1,000. Each month, optional fun events are planned that teams can gather and log miles, turn in money or just enjoy the event! All proceeds benefit First Step and 100% of the money stays here in the local Arkansas communities where First Step serves.
